The Port of Sunnyside is enhancing its Midvale Industrial Park with a major infrastructure development designed to support future growth and business expansion. This project will introduce vital improvements, including:
- 2,300+ tons of hot mix asphalt (HMA) for upgraded roadways
- 5,600 linear feet (LF) of curb and gutter
- 4,900 LF of gravity sewer & 3,600 LF of force main sewer
- 9,200 LF of new water main infrastructure
- A complete sanitary lift station for improved wastewater management
- An industrial lift station built for future expansion
- 3,300 LF of irrigation improvements
This project is a collaborative effort between the City of Sunnyside and the Port of Sunnyside, made possible through grant and loan funding from SIED, CERB, and the Department of Commerce. It is a key component of the purchase and sale agreement with Sunnyside RNG (Pacific Ag).
As part of this development, the new roadway will be named in honor of former Port Commissioner St. Clair “Woody” Woodworth, symbolizing his lasting impact on the community. Upon completion, the project will unlock 511 acres of industrial-zoned land, paving the way for economic growth and new opportunities.
The $8.3 million construction contract was awarded to Interwest Construction Inc., the project's lowest bidder. Work began on May 20, 2024, with substantial completion expected by April 29, 2025.
We look forward to sharing progress updates as we build a stronger future for Sunnyside!
